Iced Matcha Latte

 

In the winter months, I love a good cup of coffee!

Last year, my husband bought a fancy espresso machine at an auction, adding a little bit of luxury to our chilly Canadian winter mornings.

I shared on Instagram earlier this week of how our apartment (that I'm oh so thankful for!) only has one small AC in our bedroom. I wrote that post while literally feeling drips of sweat rolling down my leg (lovely I know!).

So during the summer months, I exchange my usual Americano for a glass of chilled lemon water. Occasionally, when I need a treat or a kick of caffeine, I'll make a matcha iced latte.

Whenever I use matcha powder I am inspired by its rich green pigment and always think to myself how it would work beautifully in a styled shoot or editorial spread.

I finally got out my camera to make that picture in my head a reality. Today I'm sharing a fancy version of this iced matcha latte where I go a little extra on the details. :)

Ingredients you'll need:

1 tsp matcha powder

1 cup milk or milk substitute (I used soy)

1/4 cup milk for frothing

Optional: Sweetener of choice

Scoop 1 tsp of matcha powder into a cup. Add a small amount of water to the matcha and mix into a smooth paste. By creating this paste it eliminates having clumps of matcha in your latte.

If desired, add your choice of sweetener and mix well.

Add the cup of milk and stir.

Top with ice.

Frothed Milk

Froth the 1/4 cup milk to pour to top.

Butterfly Stencil

I lastly used a stencil cut on my Cricut machine to create the butterfly design.
